Lectures at the Chautauqua Institution on Water

During the summer of 2004 I gave two lectures in the Hall of Philosophy of the Chautauqua Institution in western New York State. The theme of the week was “Water Woes Worldwide" and the theme lectures focused on some of the issues surrounding the use and availability of water. The Religion Department brought together three lecturers from the three Abrahamic faiths—Judaism, Christianity and Islam—to explore the role water played in their respective traditions. As the Christian lecturer, I offered two parallel lectures on "Water in the City” and “Water in the Cathedral.”
